The researcher at the University of Buffalo, New York, made advances in the production of stainless steel and by using graphene composite as a non-toxic replacement, which contains chrome and can cause cancer.

These researchers constantly placed the coating steel in saline water that accelerates the process of rusting and in that situation, the steel resisted rusting merely for few days.

However, they increased this time up to one month by using graphene composite. Saline water creates an environment in which rusting occurs fast and in the normal state and outside environment, this resistance time is quite long.
